Today begins the 1st day of work on Stranded. The idea is simple. You wake up stranded on an island with a crew of survivors but there is only one set of armor.
They will build up the homebase on the town and fix the ship, but you must go and explore the island for resources. Each day you get to funnel resources into certain projects.
At night things attack and you have to defend your home. I like the idea of a tower or something that's driving everyone but you mad, the longer you stay, the crazier they go.
get off the island before you run out of resources, the monsters kill you, or the pirates go insane.
.
some uniqure features i was thinking of was a day/night cycle. monsters are far more aggresive at night. Along with that, every day you come back and pick what resources to put where.
The main balance is ships vs. homebase. Too many points in ship = underdeveloped base, you die. too many points in base = you run out of time and die.
finally, I was thinking your inventory could be physical, where you drag items into your bag to make them fit. it looks clumbsy in my head, but I think it could be fun
I mocked up a scene, made a simple character, and added movement in godot. The results can be seen here:
Movement Test.
I also made this little sprite
I'm working on learning pixelart from a udemy course. Thanks for reading the 1st devlog, excited to see where this goes.
